Yes you can use the side bars, however it is not as user friendly as swiping
the screen itself, and double tapping for text selection. It's rather a
recommendation for making it more user friendly on a tablet rather than a bug.
I preach my sermons from the tablet, and the way it currently works let me
loose my place sometimes.
