This bug seems to go way back to ooo3.1 at least and the fix should be retroed
to ooo.

open new odt text document
CTRL "A" (select all) 
select centered text
type "1.  a" ENTER
type "2.  a" ENTER
what you will see is that the text does not center. It should center.

open new ODT text document:
type "1.  a" ENTER
IT WILL START NUMBERING AND RETURN "2." TYPE "A" ENTER.
TYPE CTRL "a" (select all)
Then select Centered text icon.  
(It behaves as it should.)
the list becomes centered along with anything else you might have typed.

I hope this helps make libre office better!
