Not strictly related with version 3, but a general point about Source Serif Pro
fonts future: the project is developing "optical sizes"(1), a feature not
supported by LibreOffice(2). In fact, LibreOffice have some serious problems
with fonts that offer more shapes/weights than the classical regular, italic,
bold and bold italic "combo"(3)(4). That means that future version of Source
Serif Pro will NOT work properly with LibreOffice, as many other professional
grade fonts do not properly work today (in addition to the examples provided
within the bug reports, check the "Paragraph style resets font style attribute
on document close/open"(5) thread in ask.libreoffice).
That means that, unless the mentioned bugs are solved, at some point in the
future LibreOffice will need to either remain with an older, more "traditional"
version of Source Serif Pro or completely remove it from the installer.
