The only reason I can think of is that Photoshop didn't like some of the fonts
LibreOffice installed on your system. PS CS2 was released in 2005, so it is
pretty darn old at this point. It is probably choking on some new font feature.

Unfortunately it seems there is no way to configure where PS looks for fonts.

You might try a portable version to see, if it helps:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/portable-versions/
Make sure to save a recovery point first.

You could also consider switching to GIMP - the latest version is pretty much
on par with PS CS2 featurewise. The next major version of GIMP (3.0) is
probably roughly comparable to PS CS6.
