LibreOffice aims to comply with the system defaults as close as possible. So we
use the OS dialogs. LibreOffice is also a cross-platform application and we
have to respect the different approaches. The default directory for documents
is set per tools > options > path.
Putting all together I follow Xisco's advice. It would be easier to make a
recommendation if you report a use case and a problem (both are unclear) not
the potential solution.
