Meanwhile the problem has been solved and excuse me for not coming back on
this.
The Win8 system in case became more and more unstable and I was bound to
upgrade or re-install. I chose for the upgrade to Win10. Installation of
LibreOffice went OK after that so, whatever the problem was it is no more
there.
Thank you for looking into this matter and, most importantly, keep up the
excellent work!
