Example document that isn't displayed correctly in Writer.

Hi! I discovered some time ago that I'm unable to read Word documents created
with the version of Microsoft Office that runs on an Apple computer. An
associate regularly sends me such documents, but when I open them with Writer,
the documents are always displayed as pages and pages of random-looking
characters, with a few recognizable font names and other words (each letter
separated by hash characters).

Attached is an example document that has this text, listed just once:

  my name is ken welker

I verified this with a Windows copy of Microsoft Office 2012. When I open this
with Writer, however, this document has 13 pages of random text.

I believe the version of Apple Word that generated this document is 2010. This
problem has persisted since at least version 3.3, if not longer. Please let me
know if I can provide other information.
