To prevent annoying chains of duplicates:
X --is duplicate of--> Y --is duplicate of--> Z ...
let us mark this bug directly as a duplicate of bug 53909 ;-)
This means good news: bug 53909 has been fixed, so the present bug should be
fixed, too. The fix will appear in LibreOffice 3.6.4 and 4.0.0, so please check
later, when these versions are released (or earlier, if you want to test some
daily builds), if the sample file attached to *this* bug report now opens
correctly, too.
