FWIW, I created a 2 column table in Writer, then type alternately long and
short sentences in each cell, adding a new row as I reached the end of the
preceding row. I didn't notice any particular slowdown, so I'm wondering
whether it is the content that you are typing into the cell that is the issue,
or whether there is some particular spellchecking going on (known to have
caused slowdowns in the past) ?

We basically need more information, and preferably a test document that
exhibits the described behaviour.
