Bug ID: 132121
Summary: LibreOffice 6.4.2.2 (x64) Writer sucks at kashidas
when justifying Arabic text, whereas LibreOffice
4.1.3.2 (x86) Writer does quite good
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.4.2.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Printing and PDF export
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
OK, so I downloaded LibreOffice 6.4.2.2 (x64) recently, and I regularly deal
with Arabic text.
So I set an Arabic paragraph to justified in Writer, and exported a PDF of it.
The PDF could not render/apply the kashidas properly, and there were like many
visible kashidas!
Before that, I used to do the same in LibreOffice 4.1.3.2 (x86) Writer, and it
was quite good at dealing with justified Arabic text, as compared to this new
LibreOffice 6.4.2.2 (x64).
I'm talking about Writer only. I don't know if this happens in other components
too, since I never tried that.
So, please, look in it.
I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) Service Pack 1.
Actual Results:
It should apply kashidas properly to the justified Arabic text when exported as
a PDF and the kashidas should not be "visible" (I don't know if it's the right
word to describe it)!
Expected Results:
It should apply kashidas properly to the justified Arabic text when exported as
a PDF and the kashidas should not be "visible" (I don't know if it's the right
word to describe it)!
Reproducible: Didn't try
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
It should apply kashidas properly to the justified Arabic text when exported as
a PDF and the kashidas should not be "visible" (I don't know if it's the right
word to describe it)!
