macOS 10.15.4
LO 6.4.3.2

1. Apple menu > System Preferences > Accessibility > Display
2. Check Increase Contrast
3. Launch LibreOffice
4. Insert > Fields > More fields
5. Click Variables

Confirming → NEW

Currently
This has changed and improved since the original report by Chas. All tabbed
dialog boxes are affected (e.g. Styles > Edit Style or Insert > Fields > More
Fields)

Accessibility with System Preference > Accessibility > Display > Increase
Contrast enabled is worse than with out the option enabled.
Increase Contrast (enabled): Active tab: black font + dark blue background
Increase Contrast (disabled): Active tab: balck font + light blue background

6.0.7.3: Active tab black font on black background, completely disfunctional.
6.4.3.2: Active tab black font on dark blue background, bad accessibility.

Expected
Accessibility should be at least on par with option disabled. It appears as if
the change that is applied is applied in the wrong direction. Instead of
increasing contrast (by making the background color of active tab lighter)
contrast is decreased by making it darker, which defeats the idea behind the
setting.
