maybe different representation of filtering in file disables correct values for
buttons?
fresh .xls file with one of three values in a column auto-filtered out, saved
as .xls, re-loaded, row not shown, dropdown not active (not blue, not 'dotted')
on click all three values selected,
.xlsx and .xlsm formats perform better
