display formatting marks randomly adds [ ] & | characters that are not part of
the file. this is new with this release. if intentional, what is the meaning?
Steps to Reproduce:
1. if not present on one of your files, please advise & I'll send 1.

strange characters other than the normal space, tab, line, column, page break
etc.
Expected Results:
no unknown additions like 6.3
