Dragging the window to the top of the screen does not maximize it on my
platform (Ubuntu 20.04).
However, another workaround that is useful is to a) avoid using the scaling
function, but rather b) turn on the Large Text property under Universal Access.
While this helps in LibreOffice, it does not resolve the problem of text too
small to read in some other applications.
