            Bug ID: 136673
Summary: The find field adds text on each new search
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 7.0.1.2 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: medium
         Component: LibreOffice
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

The find field (Ctrl+F) adds text on each new search.

On GUI applications, conventionally, each new find shows the previous search
pattern, entirely selected. The reason is that, if the user types something
new, the old pattern is automatically replaced; if they press enter instead,
the old pattern is used.

This was also Libreoffice's behavior, before v7.

Now, instead, when the find field is opened, the previous pattern is not
highlighted, so if the user types something new, it's prefixed to the old one.

This is very confusing, and it seems to me that it's a bug introduced, rather
than intentional design.

Searching a new pattern now requires the user to type `Ctrl+A` after `Ctrl+F`,
which is hard to remember, since the previous behavior is the convention in all
GUI applications.
