--- Comment #2 from Deborah Brouwer <[email protected]> ---
The option to prevent a table from splitting across columns works for me.
If i have misunderstood the problem, please more specifically describe which
options you have selected.
Steps to Test:
1) Open attached test_sections.odt.
2) UNCHECK Table Properties>Text Flow>Allow pages to split across pages and
columns
3) Click anywhere in the blue text.
4) Table>Split Table>No Heading
As expected, result is that the new table is placed entirely in column 2.
5) Ctrl+Z
6) CHECK Table Properties>Text Flow>Allow pages to split across pages and
columns
7) Click anywhere in the blue text.
8) Table>Split Table>No Heading
As expected, result is that the new table is split across column 1 and column
2.
I checked this on two versions:

CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-CA (en_CA); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded
Version: 7.0.1.2 (x64)
Build ID: 7cbcfc562f6eb6708b5ff7d7397325de9e764452
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
