I've just tried for half an hour to reproduce this with the steps I described
and my sample document, but couldn't.
So, given that it's not feasible to inspect the code to see how multiple copies
of the paste buffer can be produced from a single paste, and because I'm on a
deadline, this will have to stay in NEEDINFO for some time, sorry.
