I also have this issue.
Also a very similar issue occurs for me (not only in Impress, but in other
LibreOffice applications too) when trying to change view zoom with Ctrl+scroll:
it also scales in and out uncontrollably fast.
(This may be connected with the fact that touchpad driver emits some kind of
continuous scroll events? It is almost as if LibreOffice detected the number of
events without taking into account their «scrolling amount»…)
