Thanks @Dieter for having a look at this.
The picture is not really "special", I think it was made using an iPhone (some
years ago).
But Gimp tells me, that it has an embedded color profile - maybe this triggers
the issue (just a wild guess).
I'll add the original picture to BZ as well and will make some more tests.
