I agree that *unless defined in the read-only section*, current page style
should be editable when you are inside a read-only section.

By the way, you don't need the hassle that you describe (as a workaround): you
may go to the line *after* the section (and it's guaranteed to exist) to edit
the page style; or you may notice the page style in the status bar, and then
edit the style in the styles panel (F11).
