Sure but I still have a hard time to imagine the workflow where I work for a
couple of hours on styles and eventually forget to use them (nor save the
document). Maybe in Alzheimer mode... :-)

There is no difference when the document is loaded, IMHO. That's why I asked
what a style makes "modified". After saving it becomes carved in stone for this
document.
