I did do this, and it turns out that the bug is indeed a feature: For some
reason my profile had "Direct Cursor Mode" turned on.
(https://help.libreoffice.org/7.0/en-US/text/swriter/02/18130000.html?&DbPAR=WRITER&System=UNIX).
I put this to resolved→invalid, although I might be worth checking if other
users have the same issue.
