I think a more general approach would be to allow regular expression matching
to ignore parts of a sort string. Calc is already most of the way there since
the Find and Replace feature has regular expression matching as an option. For
people who don't know how to use regular expressions, add a modifiable list of
common patterns to choose from, similar to what we have for date formats.
Ignoring spaces would simply be one of these selectable predefined patterns.
