Priority: medium
Bug ID: 59682
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: : Insert > Fields not working properly
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 3.6.2.1 rc
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice

screenshot of a test-document with the behavior above-described
Problem description: The feature Insert > Fields > [any option] is not working
correctly since today. Until yesterday everything was OK. Now, instead of
inserting the data I choose (for instance, "page count"), LibreOffice will
write some sort of code (like "pagecount") and not the information itself.
I am using Ubuntu 12.10 with latest updates and libreoffice-writer version
1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice Writer with a new document
2. From top-menu choose Insert > Fields > Page Count (or any other)
Current behavior:
Instead of inserting the data you choose, LibreOffice will, actually, insert a
sort of title of what you choose. For example, if you choose (1) it will
display (2)
(1) .................. (2)
Date ................. "Date (fixed)"
Time ................. "Time (fixed)"
Page numbers ......... "Page numbers"
Page count ........... "Statistics"
Subject .............. "DocInformation: Subject"
Title ................ "DocInformation: Title"
Author ............... "DocInformation: Created"
Expected behavior:
(1) .................. (2)
Date ................. 21/01/13
Time ................. 19:08:38
Page numbers ......... 1
Page count ........... 1
Subject ..............
Title ................ Untitled 1.odt
Author ............... fbugnon
OBS 1: I didn't change any configuration and as far as I know no new version
was recently installed, maybe dependencies (java?), so I don't have any clue
what could be leading to this.
OBS 2: One strange thing is that when I copy one of the fields (2) marked on
current behavior (for instance "Date (fixed)") and paste into another program
(gedit) it will actually show the correct date (21/01/13) and not the strange
text I have on L.O.
