The problem is clearly related to the use of letter-spacing in the style of the
paragraph. "Letter-spacing" is the term used in ODF for what in LO shows up on
the Format>Character>Position dialog as "Spacing".

I will attach a more minimal sample document. It contains the text "a, b". It
displays like that in LO, with a "space" after the comma. But when printed on
the Mac, it looks like "a ,b".

If you edit the styles.xml inside the .odt and remove the
fo:letter-spacing="0.004cm" attribute from the "Standard" style, the problem
goes away.
