I love to address my own questions. With the January 2021 update of Windows 10
version 1909, KB4535680 and KB4598229, the issue is solved. Libre Office works
in normal mode again. I cannot discern which part of the update makes the
difference. Might have to do with a security setting. But anyway, maybe this is
helpful for someone else with this issue.
