On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this
with gen rendering (not with gtk3 rendering I use by default).

your gerrit patch only shows some change in starmath, so what's the use of
building xmloff and vcl ? Did I miss something?
You can give a try with gen rendering by typing in a terminal/console:
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen && soffice --math
