The result Julien has got here is perfectly correct (in contrary to my case)
DD MMMM => 01 марта
D MMMM => 1 марта
DD MMM => 01 мар
D MMM => 1 мар
The correctness of results
MMMM DD => марта 01
MMMM D => марта 1
MMM DD => мар 01
MMM D => мар 1
can be disputed even by native Russians. It could be both ways, март 01 or
марта 01, the latter being extremely formal. On the other hand, this format
would have never been normally tried if 'DD MMMM' had not failed.
