After doing a little more research, I found that the cause of this problem is a
package called "warsaw", required for using online banking services. Other
users have had this problem too, at least since last year. I have uninstalled
it and LibreOffice works fine again. However, I still do not know why does this
warsaw package interact in such a strange way with LibreOffice.
