Problem description: on start up the program functions ok then after a while
menu functions become inoperative. eg select 'manual break' and nothing happens
no dialogue no nothing!
the only way to get around the problem is to exit and reload.
Steps to reproduce: every time i use the program

3. ....
Current behavior: erratic and unpredictable
Expected behavior:not the above
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN EXPERIENCED SINCE THE UPGRADE FROM UBUNTU 12.04
