Depending on the what you use LibreOffice for, we can recommend you a version. If you use LibreOffice for very important documents and for businesses, we recommend using 3.6.5 that you can download here: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ . If you're 'just a casual' user for working on *some* documents that aren't that critical we recommend using upcoming 4.0 version. You can download the latest test version of LibreOffice 4.0, release candidate 3 (=RC3) https://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/. This'll be probably identical to the upcoming 'final version'. If you're not that familiar with installing software on a Mac, we can provide you a guide: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/mac/ (or ask you husband ;-) ).
