Indeed, the problem only occurs when typing directly, not through copy-paste.
After checking out this bug
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136687 which is similar, I
confirm that unchecking "Track Changes / Show" greatly reduces the propensity
of the problem, but does not eliminate it.
