Ran into this one too today.
My steps:
1. Open impress
2. Select default text box on slide (the one with "Click to add text")
3. Expand sidebar, Properties deck
4. Click on "Increase font size" or "Decrease font size" buttons
Observed: text box selection is lost. But it is inconsistent, and I am not sure
how to make it happen consistently.
I have seen it happen in 7.2 beta1 and 7.3 alpha0, on Ubuntu 18.04.
Changing to Linux only for the moment, until someone sees it on another OS.
