An actionable change could be to enable by default the Hidden characters option
in Options - Writer - Formatting Aids.
Apart from solving this issue that would match our UX to Words, and serve to
discourage users from applying the Hidden character attribute. It's not a very
efficient way to hide information from others anyways.
But of course this would unavoidably break some peoples workflow, so
needsUXEval.
