Priority: medium
Bug ID: 60869
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: EDITING: Sorting column and a bug.
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.0.0.3 release
Component: Spreadsheet
Product: LibreOffice
Problem 1 (May be related to problem 2)
Sorting doesn't make much sense, for example when sorting a column with the
following this is the result.
7554
007 Nightfire
11th Hour
3D Realms
7 Wonders
A Farewell
Wouldn't the following be a more expected and sensible result.
007 Nightfire
11th Hour
3D Realms
7 Wonders
7554
A Farewell
IE, Special characters, then numbers, then alphabet letters, all
ascending/descending within their group.
Problem 2:
I've noticed that sometimes 1 entry will remain at the top of the sorted
section no matter what (resorting ascending or descending, reselecting and
trying to sort again etc), the only way I've found to place the top entry in
the correct place is to manually move it. This problem persists after saving,
closing and reopening the document and even after closing and reopening
LibreOffice.
I seem to have found more than 1 way to recreate this problem, it seems to have
something to do with the first/last entry clicked when selecting many before
sorting them.
First recreation: In a column select an entry other than the first (lower down
would be better), then shift+select an entry higher up, then sort ascending,
then descending. Notice the second entry selected (the top one selected) will
remain at the top of the selection no matter if sorting ascending or
descending.
Second recreation: In a column with many entries select the bottom then
shift+select the top (does not have to be line1). Then sord Ascending then sort
descending, notice the first entry selected (the bottom one) now remains at the
top while clicking the button to sort ascending/descending.
Note, this was with a column containing about 1300 entries, noticed when
sorting first sorting it after adding some to the bottom, so it was mostly
sorted but I wanted it to merge the new entries. I then recreated it after it
was properly sorted, though properly may not be the correct word as it not
sorted sensibly (see problem 1). After being aware of problem 2 I tried to
avoid it hoping it would sort sensibly yet the following was sorted from this,,
007 Nightfire
11th Hour GOG
3D Realms Entertainment Games
7 Wonders Treasures of Seven
7554
A Farewell to Dragons
into this using "Ascending"
007 Nightfire
7554
11th Hour GOG
3D Realms Entertainment Games
7 Wonders Treasures of Seven
A Farewell to Dragons
Notice the location of "7554", between a "0" and "1", instead of after "7 ".
