Nothing actionable here.

LibreOffice will not be a default application for .txt documents unless you set
it to be. Either from Windows Setting -> "Choose default apps by file type" or
from File Explorer and context menu "Open With" and "Chose another app..."
dialog.

Yes if you open a .txt text document with LibreOffice Writer and save it, you
will clobber any formatting that may have existed.  So don't!  Rather, use the
Save as and use the native ODF Text document format.

Quit the edit of the .txt and nothing will have been changed in the original
Text file.

And if *you* have set LibreOffice Writer as default for .TXT format--just
revert the App to Notepad.exe. Choosing as described above...
