My problem with the original flow is highlighted in a video in bug 143482.
Basically, in a master document, I start editing, and I get a dialog telling me
I can't edit there. From there, it's a dead end. I have to go back to the
navigator, figure out what section I'm in (although a patch for this is in the
dailies), then select that file in the navigator, THEN I can edit. It's
cumbersome.

In the dialogue that says "You can't do this here" can we have another button
that says the equivalent of "click here to open the file so you can edit,
without needing to move away from the current window?"

I don't know if that's an antipattern, but it less flailing around for the
user. Me, that is. 🙂
