It is weird that it is lagging for you even without the hardware accelerated Skia/Vulkan (so is not a problem with graphics drivers or something). I guess you could install an unstable build to check how it behaves: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html It installs separately and will not mess with your stable one.
