What I know is that every few weeks, the OpenCL option which I had purposely disabled somehow automatically re-enabled itself, causing the problem described. Each time I had to figure out once again how to start LibreOffice in safe mode and disable the OpenCL option. No, updating drivers did not have any effect on the OpenCL issue.
