LibreOffice has been supporting using "Characters/ch" as indent units for a
long time.

First enable CJK language support: Tools > Options... dialog, Language Settings
> Languages page, Default Languages for Documents section, check "Asian" box.

Then enable using character as unit: Same options dialog, LibreOffice Writer >
General page, Settings section, check "Enable char unit" box.

Now in various places for setting indentation one should be able to directly
specify number of characters.

The indent will use the current font size. But this feature does not adapt to
change of font size *after* setting the number of characters. So the user
needs to adjust indent again if he/she changes font size of already indented
paragraph.
