Bug ID: 146123
Summary: Missing font; needs notification
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.2.3.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When you open an odt that contains a font that isn’t present it looks like
Writer italicizes the font name in the font menu to indicate that it isn’t
installed. That is no where near intuitive enough. I believe there needs to be
some popup or tool-tip to tell you that you are trying to view a document that
contains a font you do not have installed. Something to indicate that you are
viewing an approximation of the document. Sadly this user spent 4-5 hours
trying older versions, different machines, reinstalling, in order to recover
formatting on a document. If it had been more obvious that the font that
LibreOffice was trying to display didn't exist then it would have been a
trivial fix.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a document that was written with a font that is not installed
2.View the font listed in the fonts section as if that is the font being
displayed - it is italicized to indicate it isn't installed (inadequate)
3.Install missing font.
Actual Results:
N/A
Expected Results:
N/A
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
OpenGL enabled: Yes
Additional Info:
This is a suggestion, not a bug. I was referred to file a report after posting
on the ask.libreoffice.org forum.
