Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61563
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: EDITING: Queries that ORDER BY text fields do not take
diacritical marks into account
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.0.0.3 release
Component: Database
Product: LibreOffice
The subject line says it all. In a table of text, a query that used ORDER BY to
output alphabetized entries placed รค (a with an umlaut) after o. I expect many
similar combinations will result in the same issue.
This was not a problem in LO 3.x. I expect it is due to some change in how
databases work with Unicode or ASCII ordering. Of course, those encoding
systems are just approximations of how we use our language; to a human, an A is
an A with or without any accent marks.
This problem occurs with VARCHAR and VARCHAR_IGNORECASE fields. I haven't
tested it with any other types of variables.
By the way, LO 4 is beautiful. I've been using LO for professional work for
years and it's been triumph after triumph. Thanks for all your hard work!
Operating System: Windows 7
