Bug ID: 146422
Summary: Default footnote numbering in a multipage document
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.2.1.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
If we have a one-page document and we put a footnote, then the footnote or
footnotes will be correctly formatted under their numbers at the bottom of the
page.
But there is not always only one page in a document!
If we have a many-page document, then on the subsequent pages there is still a
sequential numbering of footnotes!
Thus, on the tenth page we may already have footnotes: 23, 24, 25.
But this is wrong!!!
Open any book.
There are rarely more than three footnotes on one page and they are designated
by the numbers 1, 2, 3.
And even if there are again other footnotes on the next page, their numbering
will still start with the number 1.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Let's create some kind of multi-page text document and insert a lot of
footnotes on each page.
2. Footnotes will be numbered 1, 2, 3. Footnotes will be numbered 1, 2, 3.
3. The second page will have footnotes numbered: 4, 5, 6, 7.
4. On the third page, footnotes will already be numbered: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and
so on.
Actual Results:
In LibreOffice footnotes are numbered sequentially on each page.
And in books, the numbering of footnotes begins on each new page from the
beginning, that is, from the number 1.
Expected Results:
Please make sure that on the NEW page the numbering of footnotes starts from
the beginning, that is, from the number 1. After all, this is a different page!
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Clarification: these are footnotes at the bottom of the page, not endnotes at
the end of the document!
We are talking about how the default footnotes should be formatted in a
multi-page document
