This is normal, when tab stop after the number is too close (and your numbering
obviously uses tabs), and so the longish number 'viii' (which is eight, not
seven, btw) itself doesn't fit. Then the text gets moved to the next normal tab
position.

I don't see this with built-in "Numbering ivx" list style. Do you see it with
some built-in style? (which would then be a bug.) Or do you see it with your
own defined numbering, in which case it's just a matter of defining proper
spacing after the number?
