Different people have different methods for solving puzzles. Young children
learn early to connect and associate things with each other

trying connections with different pairs until they observe an effect, and this
way they see that some pairs can be grouped and/or combined in a way to produce
a different or new phenomenon. If a child starts being interested in bridges,
he’ll probably build several kinds of bridges…
