Screen shot showing the spelling suggestions
This version of Writer regularly "red underlines" words as if they're spelled
wrongly, because you edited them.
This red underlining persists.
This only occurs if you select part of a word and type over it to change it to
another. It seems the word is being marked as wrong while it's incomplete, and
left marked as a misspelling even when the edit is finished and the word is now
correct and complete.
This does not happen for every edit, but it happens frequently.
Examples on my current page are the words "assumed" and "survived".
If I right-click on the assumed, it offers only the suggestion "unassuming".
For "survived" it offers the correction "survived" and some others: see
attached screenshot showing that the suggested spelling for "survived" is
"survived": i.e. it's wrongly marked as incorrect.
On earlier pages, some other words incorrectly flagged are:
detected
positioning
she'd
Made
favorite
Nor does it mark a word as correct if I manually edit it from incorrect to
correct for the document language. (An example is deleting the "u" from UK
"favourite" to make the US "favorite".)
Oh, wow:
I had the word "savoured" and instead of deleting the "u" I right-clicked and
selected "savored". Writer replaced the word "savoured" by "savoredsavored"!
Same for changing "calibre" to US spelling: it produced "calibercaliber".
Looks like spelling in this version has some problems.
