            Bug ID: 147653
Summary: writing circumflex accents in line with formula
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 7.3.0.3 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Formula Editor
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

In the formula editor, Greek characters can be obtained by selecting with the
mouse, or by typing their literal expression preceded by the % sign.
For example, to obtain the Greek letters rho and theta, type in french %rhô and
%thêta.

To write a vowel ô or ê with the circumflex accent on the French keyboard, you
must first type on the key with the umlaut symbol at the top and the circumflex
accent at the bottom (between the P key and the key with the $ sign), then on
the vowel o or e. This is the normal procedure both for text in Writer and in
the formula editor.

In the latest version, stable 7.2.5, the formula editor no longer recognizes
accented characters: typing the circumflex key is ignored and you always get
the vowel without accent, and you have to copy and paste if you have the
correct spelling with accent somewhere, or you have to choose the corresponding
Greek letter from the cliquodrome. On the other hand, writing accented vowels
works normally for text in Writer.

To reproduce, open a Writer document, write letters with circumflex accents in
Writer according to the indicated procedure, it's OK. Then,
Insert->Object->Formula and type %rhô in the editor: you get %rho in the editor
and in the formula image.

Note that everything works normally in the previous stable version 7.1.8. So,
beautiful regression of version 7.2.5

Not everybody has this problem, even under Linux.
- 7.3.2.0.0+ or LO 7.2.6.0.0+ with Ubuntu 20.04 ( Gnome ) has not this problem.
- I have this problem with LO 7.3.0.3 with Mageia Cauldron (test of the next
version 9), with "SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gen" libreoffice --safe-mode" or
"SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gen" ./soffice" I have this problem.
- Cinnamon with Linux Mint 19.3 x64 have this problem and with
"SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gen" ./soffice" there is no problem

the problem would be related to GTK3.
