When trying to send email from writer using "Document as Email" it is not clear
where to set the application. If this feature uses the Mail Merge feature then
the model is broken. For those of us with many email addresses, this would not
allow any opportunity to change the email account. I can understand that Mail
Merge email may need to act as a client, but to send a document, it should use
the email client, and not BE an email client.

I can find no place to set the email application.
The default email application is not used. Instead a popup says that I should
use the feature manually, which means that for all practical purposes, this
feature is broken.
