(I am quite fond of the Start Center one — Poedit and Xcode have implemented similar UIs to what you are proposing.) I think your ideas are valid, but need fleshing out in individual enhancement requests; therefore I’m closing this bug as it doesn’t conform to the “one bug per request” principle :) Please do feel free to develop these ideas in a personal page (i.e. user subpage) at wiki.documentfoundation.org; once they’re ready, file new bugs for each (instead of one ticket attempting to track everything).
