            Bug ID: 148225
           Summary: spaces are highlighted
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 4.2 all versions
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: LibreOffice
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: mois...@hushmail.com

Description:
Honestly I don't know if this a bug or not, but it drives me batty. I'm
alternately impressed by and driven batty by Libre office. I don't use it often
but I keep it on hand because it offers a number of other things (like pdf for
one) that I can't get with other free programs. Thank you. I've had Libre for
several years, and have gone through many an update and since the beginning,
when I first downloaded the file, Libre highlights the spaces. it is especially
seen when I copy/paste text from elsewhere. It drives me so batty that I
normally go through and erase all the gray highlights--an anal act that drives
me batty as well, and which requires a lot of discipline and follow through. I
don't even know if "highlights" is the correct word to use. all I know is that
between each word is a spot of gray color, which fills the entire space between
each word in the entire document. It seems like the silliest thing to fret
over, but such it is. Thanks for Libre office. It's a thousand times better
than wordpad!!!!! and it's saved my work hundreds of times--like when I need to
convert from PDF to word or vice versa; but I admit, I usually use Jarte Plus.
It's less annoying and a lot prettier. another thing that drives me batty is
when Libre underlines the entire sentence when I mistype a word. I want
spelling, as I type, indications but not the entire sentence, and not something
that is ongoing as I continue to type--something that interrupts my train of
thought and demands to be adjusted. and I don't know how to fix it until the
entire sentence is complete, without misspellings. sorry to be... I feel like a
font of negativity. Libre Office is a great product, and greatly appreciated by
me and I love the entire suite. very appreciative. but batty too. sorry. Have a
beautiful day.

Actual Results:
It happens most frequently when I copy/paste text, usually from online.

Expected Results:
I don't know any way to turn off the space markers. so I just erase them
manually.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I don't know what version. I just downloaded 7.5.1.2 64, but haven't used it
yet. but I didn't look to see what the last version was. could be fixed by now?
Libre is the ONLY free software that I've ever worked with that highlights the
spaces. I think if Libre didn't highlight spaces, didn't underline whole
sentences when I mistype a word, and was much prettier to look at, not
dense/gray/busy, then it would likely be my favorite product. Please contrast
with Jarte Plus, which uses a lot of colorful, fun icons and has much more
colorful background. Jarte also allows us to turn on/off different menus and
allows us to decide what/how we want to look at (it). If I had the jarte
interface with the Libre office capacities, I would be over the top delighted.
BTW, Jarte is discontinued; can you acquire it?
